Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information the Indulge mobile app collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and how you can ask us about it. It covers the Indulge iPhone app. It does not cover the marketing website at indulgechefs.com.
This wording describes how the app actually works today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
Who we are
Indulge is a marketplace. We introduce clients who want a private chef or catering to independent chefs, and we run the booking, quoting, and payment process between them.
Questions about this policy can be sent through Contact Support in the app.
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to run an account or a booking.
- Account. Name, email address, phone number, password (held by our sign-in provider, not by us in readable form), and the role you chose — client, chef, or staff.
- Chef onboarding and showcase. Culinary background, credentials, insurance company, policy number and expiry, city and state you work from, service area, rates, biography, a headshot, a kitchen photo, food photos, and sample menus.
- Bookings. Event date and time, guest count, the service address, menus, comments, invoices, and tips. Clients are asked to record allergies and dietary requirements in the booking. That is health information. We store it so the chef can read it before cooking. We do not use it for advertising.
- Payments. Clients pay and chefs get paid through Stripe. We do not store full card or bank numbers. Stripe does.
- Support messages. Anything you send to our team, and the fact that you sent it.
- Device alerts. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for that phone so we can tell you about a booking, a payout, or a support reply. You can turn types of alert off in Account → Notifications.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, we may send a report to Sentry so we can fix it. That report can include the technical details of the crash and, if you were signed in, your account id. It does not include your name, email, screenshots, or a recording of what you were doing. We do not use this for advertising or analytics.
- Agreement records. When you accept the Terms of Service we store which edition you accepted and when.
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell your information. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Who can see it
- You can see and edit your own profile. Some fields, such as email, are changed through support.
- The other party on a booking can see what that booking requires: the service address, guest count, menus, comments, invoices, and allergy notes the client wrote.
- Anyone browsing chefs in the app can see a published chef showcase — name, photos, rates, and service area. We do not show a chef’s email address there.
- Indulge staff can see support threads, review chef applications and showcases, and look up accounts when they need to run the platform or handle a dispute.
- Our processors hold what they need to do their job: Clerk (sign-in), Supabase (app data), Cloudflare (photos and this page), Stripe (payments), Expo / Apple (push delivery), and Sentry (crash reports).
Chefs are independent professionals, not Indulge employees. When you put information on a booking, the assigned chef can see it so they can do the job.
Why we collect it
To create your account, run bookings and payments, show chefs to clients, send alerts you asked for, review chef applications, answer support messages, keep a record of the Terms you accepted, and see what went wrong when the app crashes. We also keep records we reasonably need for disputes, fraud, or the law.
How long we keep it
We keep account and booking records while the account is open, and for as long as we reasonably need them after that — for example an unpaid invoice, a payout still due, a dispute, or a legal duty. Push tokens are removed when the device stops registering or the account is closed.
Closing your account
You can close your account from Account in the app (Delete account, then hold the confirm button). If your account is suspended, Delete account is on the limited-access screen. That removes your sign-in. Booking history, photos, and payment records may still be kept where we need them to finish money already owed, prevent fraud, or meet the law. A suspended account can still reach Support, or close the account as described above.
Your choices
- Turn notification types off in Account → Notifications.
- Update your profile from Account.
- Ask us, through Support, what we hold about you or to correct it.
- Close your account as described above.
If you are in California or another place with similar privacy laws, you can also ask us not to sell or share your information. We do not sell it, and we do not share it for cross-context advertising.
Children
Indulge is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update this page and the date at the top. The current edition is always the one at this address.
